Wojtek Smilek studied singing at the Cracow Academy of Music.

He left for Paris in 1990 to further his studies and recieved a Diploma with Special Mention.

He won the Bellini competition for vocalists in Catania, Sicily.

He has been singing as an opera soloist on the major stages of Europe sicnce his debut in the 1993 French Radio Festival in Montpelier.

Opera Theatres he has appeared at include Opery National de Paris,Opery Royal de Wallonie,Grand Théâtre de Genève,w Wiedenskiej Staatsoper,Filharmonii w Brukseli,Salle Pleyel w Paryzu,Avignon, Marseille,Lille,Modeny,Las Palmas na Wyspach Kanaryjskich,Strasbourg m.in.

He is frequently invited to perform at ; Festival de Radio France w Montpellier,Festival d'Chorè gies w Oranges czy Festival International d'Art Lyrique w Aix-en-Provence, Festival de Carcassonne.

Roles he has performed and stay in his repertoire inlcude; Fiesco w Simon Boccanegra, Banco w Macbeth, Procida w Nieszpory Sycylijskie, Il conte di Walter w Luisa Miller, Sir Georg w Purytanie, Raimondo w Lucja z Lammermoor, Rodolfo w Lunatyczka,Phanuel w Herodiadzie, Mefistofeles w Faust, Osmin w Uprowadzenie z Seraju, Komandor w Don Giovanni, Walter Fürst w Wilhelm Tell, Alidoro w Kopciuszek, Gremin w Eugeniusz Oniegin, Timur w Dziewica Orleanska, Pimen w Borys Godunow.

His concert repertoire inlcudes the Requiems by Mozart, Verdi and Suppe ;Requiem Mozarta Verdiego i Suppè , Rossini's Stabat Mater, Puccini's Messa di Gloria and the Shostakoviches 14th Symphony.

He has worked with the many distinguished conductors including A. Zedda, P. Steinberg, M.Viotti, M.Plasson, B.Campanella, M.Bellini, S.Jurovski, J.Conlon P.Luizzi, D.Robertson, M.Minkovski.

His performances are broadcasted by radio and television and released on video cassettes and DVD's.
